Hello Goodbye

A couple of updates. Firstly, Alice is now back at home with us, and that's a wonderful thing. I went to the hospital to meet her this afternoon, and we were back in time to see Granny taking Leila on her favourite walk - looking at the diggers involved in the roadworks on our street!

Alice opted to come back home because, for the next couple of days at least, Edward is going to continue to be in the high dependency section of the neonatal unit where opportunities to visit him are very limited.
Edward himself is being treated with antibiotics to fight whatever has been causing his problems, and he's making progress. When I visited him this evening I got a really positive feeling about his progress. He's feeding better now, and so they're reducing the amount of glucose that is going in through IV. They don't want to subject him to any more tests until Monday, so we'll have a proper view of how he's doing in a couple of days time.

It was an understandably difficult thing to leave the hospital without Edward, but we know he's in good hands. There's very little that our continued presence in the hospital could do to improve his situation, and so now we just have to wait. In the meantime we'll be heading over at visiting times to see the little guy. We realise that we're very, very fortunate that the hospital is only a 15 minute journey from our house.
