What to expect...when you have two kids......

....that you will be in a never-ending cycle of colds, sniffles and bugs.

Well that's what it seems like to me!  We were so lucky in Cairo that Leila was never really that poorly (apart from her Roseola), but now that we have two (and are in contact with a lot of different kids via the playgroups etc), both her and Edward are getting everything going! Since the holidays ended in January it feels like it's been one long cold/cough for them and us.

This week Leila has got her cough back, but is not having the same runny nose as before.  She wants cuddles again, but not quite as many as last time.  She wants to watch her video (Snowdog) but again not quite as much as before. Her new favourite thing is doing puzzles and she is loving the challenge that they present (and the 'make a mess' that you can do before you start the puzzle!). The doc prescribed her an expectorant cough medicine that I managed to get her to take three partial doses of before giving up somewhat. I'm now trying the old 'olbas oil steamer' in the room at night method.

Edward was doing well up until a few days ago when he got really stuffy. Last night he was so stuffed up that he could hardly breathe out of his nose and so was struggling to feed when he woke.  This led to him getting upset and of course struggling to sleep!  I manged to rock him to sleep a few times, but then tried nasal sprays and the 'sucky thing' as well as olbas in the room. It seems that his stuffiness is so far up that the 'sucky' can't get at it.  Today we tried Vicks vapour rub on his feet at nap time and breastmilk under the nose too - something must start to work for him soon, surely?!

And Scott has it in his head and throat. And I've still got a gunky nose too.

But apart from all that..... we're doing fine really.
