Saturday morning Allsop explorers club work as follows:
Plonk Edward in the sling and Leila in the tiny buggy.
Get on the bus (usually the #301)
Get off the bus (usually at Piata Romana)
Explore until someone demands to be fed!
Last week we got off at Piata Romana and then went south stopping first in McDonalds for a real treat for me of a decaf soy latte! Leila then walked, instead of being in the buggy, until we got to Piata Universitat where we jumped on the metro home again! (taking a brief detour into City Grill Cafe before getting on the bus as Edward woke up hungry)
Discoveries:
That along Gheorghe Magheru (main road between the two squares) there seem to be lots of small cinemas/theatres - could be worth checking out what's on once we are in a position to get a babysitter for the night.
That City Grill Cafe is a great bolt hole if we need it before getting the bus home.
That Edward struggles to fall asleep on a warm crowded bus.
That Leila struggles to stay awake on a warm crowded bus.
This week we got off at Piata Romana again but headed south-west towards Cismigu Park. We found them setting up for a food market just off Revolution Square and enjoyed wandering through the stalls as they started to cook up the food for the day and smell all the pork-based smells!! As we weaved our way towards the part we also found a really interesting area with lots of old residential buildings in. Edward had a 2 hour nap but then woke up so I found a coffee shop to take him to (too chilly now to play with him and feed him outdoors really) whilst Scotty and Leila played a while longer in the park (great play equipment once again!)
Discoveries:
Yummy smelling food market just off Revolution Square - seasonal or weekly?
That every park has great play equipment.
A decent coffee shop on Bvd Schitu Magureanu.
That we need to allow time to get back to the bus stop at the end of an explore. It felt like we left loads of time to get home, but after the 15-minute swift walk back to the bus stop we didn't get home for lunch until nearly 1pm
