We stayed in Bucharest this break as we just wanted to have some time together and attempt to recover from a really hard term. We made a little list of things we could do over the break and did most of them. They were mainly small things that we just normally wouldn't get round to doing at a weekend, like getting Leila's hair cut, a trip to Ikea and getting to a pottery cafe!
The first two days we pretty much stayed at home as Leila and Edward were still recovering from their colds. This meant that we missed Baby Anastasia's baptism on the Saturday afternoon, but there was no way that either of the kids were well enough to make it through a journey out, let alone such a formal event and big party.
Our first expedition was to our second closest mall, Promenada Mall, that we've not been to before. Taking the bus to the mall is hardly rocket science we know, but it was an important trip to do as it meant we could scope out a new place (and route) all together. It turned out to be a really great morning. We took the #301 and then had about a ten minute walk along a main road to get to the mall. When we got there the shops were just opening and we had a quick scoot round before stopping for a coffee and a snack. We had fun trying on different hats in the sports shop and then playing with lego (at the Lego shop). There are a few kids shops there with toys out to play with and this kept Leila busy. We didn't need to buy anything so all the play was 'free' too! For lunch we went upstairs and had MaccyD's and then we took a taxi home. Not very exciting, but good to know that there is another mall that is easy enough to get to and has a good enough range of shops too.
I think the highlight of the holiday for Leila though was going round to a friend's house for coffee and to meet their puppy! Jo and Anthony have invited us round to theirs before, but we've just never got round to going - very bad of us! They live in Pipera too, but it's not close enough to walk and there isn't a bus so we took a cab there. Their little puppy, Vlad (of course!), was excited to see Leila (despite his cough) and she loved playing with him. A few days after our visit Leila woke up from a nap and said to me "In my sleepy time I see Vlad" which is super-cute that this is the first 'dream' she has told us about!!!
