Last Day of Term

Today was the last day of school - which means that Scotty has survived the term (barely - he's taken a day off this week as he's had the flu/cold on and off since the start of the month), and that our big girl has done a full term at school!

 Today was a bit of a treat for Leila as they had a 'party'. A few days ago we made chocolate cornflake cakes together that she took in, and apparently a group of secondary students ran a party for the youngest kids at school (all morning!!!). To say she was excited is an understatement.... When I went to collect her she had her face painted and I asked her if she had enjoyed herself. She said that she had eaten two chocolate cornflake cakes and that 'Daddy's friend (which normally translated to - any teacher) gave me a star'. I take that as a 'yes' then :-)

We also had our first school report for Leila which was weird to get, but absolutely lovely to read.  It made us very proud to read about our little girl doing so many good things.  Leila has definitely benefited and grown from being at school from aged 2y10m and she has grown more sociable and confident in just three months.  Seeing Leila perform on stage a few weeks ago was a real moment for us - as she wouldn't have done this before.  We were concerned about her language and other skills, such as counting and letter recognition, continuing to develop and these have also come along.  I think it helps that she has so much teacher contact (one.two teachers and one or two TAs for seven or either kids) who are happy to talk to her and to listen to her.  They tell us that she makes them laugh - which is a good thing I think.  Leila is also learning manners (she is better than us at saying thank you at times) but remains as cheeky as any 3yo would be. She is also learning about her body and being physical and enjoying the outdoors which makes us happy too.
